John PatrickCONNORIn loving memory of John Patrick (Jack) Connor of Rutherglen. Passed away 21st January 1990. 17th Indian Division, 14th Army, Burma , Second World War. Beloved husband of the late Helen (Eileen) nee Kelly and dearly loved dad of the late John Douglas and of Dorothy Ellen.

A hospital engineer, socialist and trade unionist You were laid to rest on Burns Night.. You taught us the value of education, hard work, loyalty, respect and always doing our best.

You loved newspapers, books, politics, poetry and Pavarotti. A beautiful singer, wonderful baker and accomplished rose grower but above all the best Dad with a lovely speaking voice and a great sense of humour.

Sleep on solider. Safely held in big, gold angels' wings.

"One rose bloomed in your garden Dad as you began your flight above The last one that you planted there A red one called 'My Love'"

Until we meet again, love always

Dorothy xx

I put daffodils in the window for you today Daddy-and for Mum.
On your last day there was a terrible storm and as we were leaving to go to the hospital to see you that afternoon I realised at the last minute I had forgotten the daffodils so I ran back in to get them. They were always your favourites and the last flowers you saw.

"We did not know that morning
The sorrow the day would bring
When a heart of gold stopped beating
We could not do a thing
We sat beside your bedside
Our hearts were crushed and sore
We tended you with loving care
Till we could do no more."

In the words of your special song you always sang for mum and I sang to her in her last hours -
"Would you believe me,
I love you so."

Thank you for choosing mum as your wife and for giving me the best big brother. He looked after me so well. A good son.

Love always and forever, still trying to do my best as always,
Dorothy (Potsy)xx
